Jacksonville Ranch House

Pilot Construction built this 12,000-square-foot ranch home in Jacksonville, Texas, as a place for the owners and their family to gather. The en-suite bedrooms give their children private spaces, while separate girls' and boys' bunk rooms welcome the grandchildren. The six-car garage accommodates vehicles, side-by-sides, and room for ranch vehicles.

The home's 33-foot living-room span opens toward the sitting and dining areas. To support the open space and custom balcony, we designed and installed steel beams and columns integrated into the homes' framing system. Six sliding glass balcony doors frame the views and can close off a quieter sleeping area.

Outside, a 600-foot stone-faced retaining wall helps keep cattle out of the front yard. The recreation area includes two pickleball courts, half-court basketball, a full-size tennis court, and a resort-style playground with slides and climbing walls.

Construction of the home took 12 months, and Pilot handed over the keys in the 13th month. The homeowner wrote "Craig and Christian listened to our ideas, understood our vision, and worked diligently to bring everything to life."
